Apple hikes subscription prices for Apple TV and Apple One in the U.S.

Apple is adjusting the cost of its digital ecosystem once again, raising the monthly price of its streaming platform, Apple TV, to 14.99 dollars. For those who prefer an annual commitment, the yearly subscription has climbed to 119 dollars, up from the previous rates of 12.99 dollars per month and 99 dollars per year. This change also ripples through the company’s comprehensive bundle, Apple One, which integrates iCloud storage and Apple Music alongside the streaming service. That bundled package will now cost users 21.95 dollars per month, reflecting a two dollar increase.

This move signals a shift in strategy for a service that entered the market in 2019 with an aggressive undercutting approach. At launch, Apple TV plus was priced at just 4.99 dollars a month to lure subscribers away from established competitors. However, as the library has expanded with high profile hits like Ted Lasso and massive investments in sports and blockbusters such as F1, Apple is bringing its pricing more in line with other industry giants. These adjustments follow a similar trend seen earlier this July when Apple Music saw a modest one dollar monthly increase attributed to rising licensing costs.

Financially, these shifts come amid steady growth for the company’s services division, which reported 30.7 billion dollars in revenue last quarter. While there have been slight dips in gross margins due to currency fluctuations and product mixes, services have remained a cornerstone of corporate growth throughout Tim Cook’s leadership. As Cook prepares to step down as CEO on September 1st, it is clear that diversifying income beyond hardware remains a central pillar of the company’s long term roadmap.
