OU football vs Michigan live updates: Sooners-Wolverines game score, highlights, stats

The Oklahoma Sooners saw their hopes fade in Ann Arbor as they fell 17-10 to the Michigan Wolverines in a defensive battle defined by missed opportunities and costly mistakes. While Oklahoma managed to claw back into the game during the second half, they simply could not overcome a stagnant offensive rhythm and several critical turnovers that handed momentum back to the home crowd at The Big House.

For much of the afternoon, quarterback John Mateer struggled to find his footing against a disciplined Michigan secondary. After a quiet first half where the Sooners were shut out 10-0, Mateer showed signs of life in the third quarter, connecting with Mackenzie Alleyne for a 22 yard touchdown on Alleyne’s very first catch as a Sooner. This spark helped Oklahoma tie the game at 10-10 following a clutch field goal by Tate Sandell, momentarily shifting the energy toward the visitors.

However, the tide turned decisively in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter. With about eight minutes remaining and the score deadlocked, Jyaire Hill intercepted a disastrous pass from Mateer at the Oklahoma 16 yard line, returning it deep into Sooner territory. Michigan wasted little time capitalizing on the mistake, using just two plays to set up a one yard touchdown run by Jordan Marshall that gave them a permanent 17-10 lead.

Oklahoma attempted one last desperate drive to save their season, but penalties continued to plague them throughout the day. A crucial holding call wiped away a promising gain by Mateer, and shortly after, an off-target throw resulted in Oklahoma turning the ball over on downs with just over two minutes left on the clock. Despite flashes of brilliance from their defense and some timely stops by players like Taylor Wein, the Sooners leave Michigan empty-handed due to an offense that never truly clicked when it mattered most.
